The problem

Dispatchers planned four thousand vehicles by spreadsheet. Fuel spend was climbing nine percent a year, and there was no way to model an alternative without stopping the business to try it.

What we did

We streamed vehicle telemetry into ClickHouse, built the routing solver in Rust so it could re-plan within a dispatcher's attention span, and put every suggestion behind an explanation the dispatcher can accept, edit, or reject.

Where it landed

Eighteen percent less fuel, twelve thousand routes planned a day, and a solver that returns in under a third of a second at p99 — with dispatchers still in charge of the call.

Two years after handover our own team owns it end to end, and the on-call load went down, not up.
